Alito Moreno’s laughter annoyed a Morena deputy during the presentation of the electoral reform

During the session of the committees in charge of ruling on the proposal for electoral reform sent by the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador It generated a clash between the deputies of Morena and the members of the opposition because the document was not distributed properly.

During the first session, the opacity claims against Morena were made present, where the opposition bloc announced that they will not vote in favor of the project if it implies the disappearance of the National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF), key elements of the democratic system in Mexico.

In the midst of the crossing of signals, Morena lost patience and made her annoyance towards the PRI bench visible, asking them not to applaud the positions of their national leader, Alejandro Moreno Cardenas.

Alito’s announcement not to vote in favor of AMLO’s reform, no matter how high the price for the tricolor of refusing to accompany Morena, sparked loud applause among the attendees, but the situation upset everyone. Leonel Godoy, who quickly took the microphone to demand a motion of order from the opponents.

The deputy of Morena, Leonel Godoy, was upset after the PRI bench applauded one of Alito Moreno’s interventions, however, the situation caused the PRI member to laugh

After Godoy’s claim to avoid the applause and not break the serious tone of the meeting, the Morena faction repeated the attitude of the PRI members and broke into applause, thus unleashing the laughter of the campechano.

When taking the floor, the national leader of the PRI assured that in a forceful and defined manner “the PRI will not approve, will not endorse, or support any reform that means a setback to what the citizens of our country have built for years.”

“Whatever the cost of opposing us may be, it will be less than what the country would pay if we give in,” said Moreno, who in recent months was threatened with an impeachment trial to face the Campeche justice, from where Layda Sansores has focused the attacks against the national president of the tricolor.

The PRI bench rejected any proposal that puts the National Electoral Institute (INE) and the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF) at risk, including local bodies that participate in electoral tasks.

The PRI members pointed out that Mexico cannot afford to abandon the path that we have followed in electoral matters, “in order to approach a new path that seeks to substitute the institutions and processes that exist today at a whim, without an objective analysis and without preserving what is that it has worked”.

This November 23, as he had warned, Morena presented President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s proposal on electoral matters, however, opposition deputies complained that the draft opinion was not delivered to them to read it.

For their part, the Morena legislators indicated that they would later share the document, which consists of just over a thousand pages, on WhatsApp, and warned that five days are enough for opposition legislators to study the reform proposal in detail.

Although Morena has a majority in commissions, it seems difficult for her to obtain a qualified majority in plenary to reform the Constitution, for this reason she will resort to changes to secondary laws to achieve her objective.

The proposal of the President of the Republic seeks to eliminate the electoral institutes of each federative entity, to replace the National Electoral Institute (INE) by the National Institute of Elections and Consultations (INEC), and that the electoral advisers be chosen from a list proposed from the same Executive and the other two powers.
