What are the new restrictions for bikers in CDMX?

Hundreds of motorcyclists demonstrated on Tuesday November 22th to protest against the new restrictions that the government of the Mexico Cityin order to avoid the number of deaths of those who use this transportation system.

About 600 bikers They have shown their annoyance at said demonstration and thousands more have done so on social networks, to which the Mobility secretary (Semovi) from CDMX assured that they are open to dialogue, but what are these restrictions?

New restrictions that will take effect on December 1

-Motorcycles with a cylinder capacity of less than 600 cubic centimeters will be prohibited from driving on controlled access roads.

-The motorcycles of those drivers who do not carry a valid license will be sent to the vehicle deposit

-The motorcycles will return to their owners, when they have finished a motorcycling course that grants the A1 license.

-The new traffic regulations will have specific measures and characteristics for motorcyclists’ helmets: “They must be helmets specially designed for motorcycles, because we have seen that some use helmets for bicycles, construction, or for other activities that do not guarantee a safe trip.” , said the head of Semovi, Lajous Loaeza.

-The use of the helmet will be totally mandatory to circulate in the streets of Mexico City.

-All mobile application distributors must have insurance and a Type A1 or A2 license.

breathalyzer in december

The Undersecretary for Citizen Participation and Crime Prevention, Pablo Vázquez, mentioned that “between January and October 2022, 7,980 people who have tested positive for breathalyzer have been made available to 7,980 people who may have lost their lives for driving under the influence of alcohol”, which represent 10% more than in 2018.

He added that this year 7,931 units have been sent to a deposit, as part of the Drive without Alcohol program, which represents an increase of more than 20% compared to 2018. He announced that in December the breathalyzer will be implemented all day, until January 8, 2023.
