Police chase and shoot suspected assailant in Mítikah parking lot

This Monday afternoon there was a chase in the parking lot of the Mítikah shopping center, in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office in Mexico City.

First reports indicate that a 28-year-old man was shot by elements of the corporation. Presumably the man fled after committing a robbery and was followed by elements of the capital’s police from the Portales neighborhood.

The police chief, Omar García Harfuch, reported that elements detained a person who had assaulted a passerby: “shots had to be fired, wounding the alleged criminal who is already in custody.”

A social media user captured the moment they opened fire on the alleged offender.

The alleged criminals traveled on a red motorcycle and were followed by the city government’s security cameras. The men entered the parking lot of a commercial plaza on Avenida Río Churubusco, in the Xoco neighborhood.

One of the men was allegedly handling an object, which appeared to be a firearm, “so in the face of imminent risk and in adherence to the action protocols, officers who were monitoring said person detonated him“said the police.

The officers assured him a replica firearm, cash and a telephone equipment. It should be noted that a 25-year-old young woman appeared at her place, who pointed out that said subject in the company of another person, moments before her, threatened her and stripped her of her belongings.

Immediately, the emergency services were requested, paramedics diagnosed the person involved with possible fracture of tibia and fibula by firearm projectile. For which he was transferred to a hospital under custody, as a detainee.
