England and US fans face ticket issues

Thousands of supporters, including fans from England and the United States, faced chaos at the World Cup in Qatar on Monday when the FIFA app crashed, leaving them unable to access their tickets.

An organizer for an American fan group confirmed to ESPN that tickets on FIFA’s ticketing app, which fans planned to use to enter the stadium, “disappeared” from accounts and also left fans unable to transfer. tickets to the people they planned to attend with.

Fans who encountered problems were told to go to the Doha Convention Center. A line of approximately 500 fans was seen outside the building where they were increasingly concerned that they would not be able to make it to the game.

On England v Iran, some reported tickets as having disappeared from the app entirely, while others were sent to specific help desks at the stadium or the Convention Centre.

Sources told ESPN that FIFA is aware of the issues and is working to resolve them. England kicked off against Iran at 4pm local time with hundreds of fans still trying to gain access to the pitch as the players filed out of the Khalifa International Stadium.

Other delays outside the stadium were caused by what some English fans described as “excessively tight” security measures.

The USMNT team plays Wales at 10pm local time and some supporters have been told to head to West Bay where they will receive a printed ticket.

FIFA said in a statement: “Some spectators are having trouble accessing their tickets through the FIFA ticketing app. FIFA is working to resolve the issue. In the meantime, fans who are unable to access your mobile tickets should check email.”

“In the event that fans are unable to access their email accounts, the stadium’s ticket resolution point will be able to provide assistance. We thank fans for their understanding as we work to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
