HERMOSILLO.- The National Meteorological Service (SMN) said that during this day the cold front 2 will generate rains and showers in Sonora and Chihuahua.
“It will cause very heavy rains in Chihuahua, heavy in soundwhich could be accompanied by electrical discharges, hail fall and wind gusts of 50 to 60 km/h, as well as showers in the Baja California Peninsula,” the SMN said in a statement.
The National Water Commission (Conagua) indicated that “the forecast rainfall could be accompanied by electric shocks, strong winds and possible hailstormsand cause landslides, increase in the levels of rivers and streams, overflows and floods in low-lying areas of the mentioned states”.

According to the SMN, the cold front 2 “will extend over the northern and northeastern border of Mexico, will continue to interact with an upper trough over the northwestern part of the country and with a center of low pressure in the middle levels of the atmosphere over Sonora, so showers and heavy rains are forecast in the mentioned regions including the Baja California Peninsula The cold air mass will cover the Mesa del Norte generating temperature drop overnight in this region.
On the other hand, wind gusts of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour (km/h) are estimated in the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec, and 50 to 60 km/h in Chihuahua, Coahuila and Sonora.
