The specialist commented that many of the processed foods and soft drinks can generate neurotransmitters such as serotonin or dopamine, that make a person feel good; however, it is not the only way to obtain them, because “we have other options that, in addition, do not have calories: do breathing exercises, that we can maintain a constant breath, that we are aware of the moment, the so-called mindfulness”, he added.

For her part, Judith Salvador Cruz, professor and expert in Neuropsychology at FES Zaragoza: “All fizzy drinks or soft drinks are harmful. Sugar affects you, not only at the metabolic level, in the pancreas or liver, but also because all the arrival of the information that we have to feed and nourish the body, including the brain, must be processed at the blood level.

“If such a heavy load of sugars reaches the brain it can be counterproductive and can affect much more in the long run. It not only brings metabolism problems, but also functional problems in any of the neurological, cardiovascular, or stomach, liver or pancreas systems, also at the level of cognitive functions. Let’s have a health education not to consume so much sugar”.
