A magnitude 5.2 earthquake with its epicenter in Tecomán, Colima, shook Mexico this September 23, 2022.
According to the National Seismological Service (SSN), the telluric movement was recorded at 1:25 p.m. this Friday, 62 kilometers from the municipality of Tecomán.
Preliminarily, the SSN reported that the earthquake had an intensity of 5.6 degrees.
The earthquake did not merit the activation of the seismic alert in CDMX; however, hundreds of residents of the capital reported on social networks that they felt the tremor in their homes, schools and offices.
SASMEX reported that seismic waves reached the capital at 1:26 p.m.but that the alerts were not activated since the energy estimate in the first seconds of the movement did not exceed the pre-established levels.
More than 1,700 homes and businesses affected in Tecomán, after earthquakes
The coastal municipality of Tecomán, Colima, has been one of the most affected municipalities after the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that was recorded last Mondaysince more than 1,700 homes and businesses affectedas well as damage to highway infrastructure.
