This is the list of affected municipalities – El Financiero

As of this Monday, August 15, the water supply through the Cutzamala System will be reduced. Said measure will affect the City and the State of Mexico.

In particular, 13 Mexican municipalities will be more affected by the decisioninformed the Water Commission of the State of Mexico (CAEM).

According to authorities from the National Water Commission (Conagua) and the CAEM, the decision to reduce the supply of liquid in the Cutzamala System is a “preventive measure, given the lack of rainfall in the last two years and the low levels in the dams that make up this system”.

Which municipalities of the State of Mexico will be affected by the reduction in the water supply?

As of this Monday, in the State of Mexico they will no longer receive 400 liters of drinking water per second.

In order for the population to take action, the Mexican authorities released the list of 13 municipalities that will suffer the most from the reduction in supply.

According to the Water Commission of the State of Mexico, the most affected municipalities will be:

  • Acolman
  • Atizapan of Zaragoza
  • Coacalco
  • Cuautitlan Izcalli
  • Ecatepec
  • Huixquilucan
  • Naucalpan
  • Nezahualcoyotl
  • Nicholas Romero
  • Tecamac
  • Tlalnepantla
  • Toluca
  • Tultitlan

In addition to making known the list of affected municipalities, the Mexican authorities indicated that “municipalities have their own sources of supply that will allow to reinforce the delivery of drinking water to the population”.


Which city halls in CDMX will be affected by the lack of water?

The inhabitants of Mexico City will not be spared from the reduction in supply through the Cutzamala System.

The CDMX Water System (SACMEX) also detailed which municipalities will be affected by the measure.

  • Benito Juarez
  • Coyoacan
  • Cuajimalpa
  • Cuauhtemoc
  • Iztacalco
