Valdir Segato, renowned and controversial bodybuilder known as the “Brazilian Hulk”, died at the age of 55, as reported by local media, after a relative confirmed the news to Globo News. We tell you what we know about the death of the man who injected himself for years with synthol, a substance that helped him increase his muscles.

According to Valdir Segato’s relative who confirmed the news of his death, after the bodybuilder had several difficulties breathing.

The man asked a neighbor for help, whom he allegedly told her that he was “dying”:

“It was like 6 in the morning, give or take. He came crawling through the back house and got to the front. Then he knocked on my mom’s window, knocked, knocked, then she woke up and said, ‘Help me, help me because I’m sick.’ dying,'” said the bodybuilder’s relative.

Valdir was rushed to a hospital; However, according to reports, he died at the scene from a heart attack. This is believed to have been triggered by the use of injections of Synthol, an oil-based substance, benzyl alcohol and lidocaine which can cause “nerve damage, lung oil embolic, pulmonary artery occlusion, myocardial infarction, cerebral stroke and infectious complications”, as Europe PubMed Central points out.

Previously it had been reported that doctors had warned him about the use of these injections. The famous began to inject because “I was very skinny, I wanted to be like them,” he once told the BBC.

Segato dreamed of becoming more and more like Arnold Schwarzenegger and other fictional characters like the Hulk.:
