La Jornada – OHL will collaborate with the Mexican authority in the investigation against Peña

Mexico City. The Spanish construction company OHL said this Wednesday that it will collaborate with the Mexican authorities to clarify issues related to investigations against former Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto, specifying that OHL Mexico is no longer part of the group.

On Tuesday, the Mexican prosecutor’s office said that it was investigating the former president, who governed between 2012 and 2018, for money laundering, illicit enrichment and illegal international transfers and that one of the investigations was linked to OHL OHLA.MC for electoral and property crimes.

“The events referred to date back to 2017 and to OHL Mexico. In that year, the sale of OHL Mexico and the entire concessions division (…) to Aleática was announced,” the company detailed in an email message.

“The OHLA Group will collaborate with the Mexican authorities as much as necessary to clarify any disputed fact,” he added.

Last month, the Mexican anti-money laundering unit, FIU, asked the prosecutor’s office to investigate several millionaire transfers abroad addressed to Peña, predecessor of the current president Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Then, the former president responded through a message on Twitter that he hoped he would be allowed to “clarify any questions”, but he has not yet expressed himself about the new investigations.
