The HBO Max streaming service shocked users who hired the platform after the disappearance of 6 exclusive films.
HBO Max is available in Mexico and Latin America from June 2021, that is, has little more than a year offering his service in the region speaks Spanish.
The platform grill is made up of the best content from WarnerMedia, with a large catalog such as: Children’s (Cartoon Network, Cartoonito, Boomerang and Tooncast); General Entertainment (TNT, TNT Series, Space, Cinemax, TCM, I.Sat, Warner Channel, TBS, HTV, MuchMusic, Glitz* and truTV); News (CNN International, CNN en Español, CNN Chile and HLN); Sports (TNT Sports) and Premium (HBO, HBO 2, HBO GO, HBO Family, HBO Pop, HBO Xtreme, HBO +, HBO Signature and HBO Mundi). Also, Warner Bros.
“With our iconic portfolio we have evolved to become one of the main creators of intellectual property in Latin America“, highlights HBO Max on its official website.
However, the cancellation of some productions and the withdrawal of films on the platform generated uncertainty in the users that were made from the service.
Although it is common for titles to disappear on similar platforms -such as Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime-, they regularly announce weeks before the withdrawal of material from their catalogwhich HBO Max did not do this time.
In accordance with Variety in the last days HBO withdrew 6 films that were promoted as exclusiveswhich are: The witchesa remake released in 2020 that starred actress Anne Hathaway; Moonshotfilm added to the streaming service only in March 2022; superintelligencea film that was presented to the public in 2020; lucky down, released in 2021; Y An American Pickle and Charm City Kings released in 2020.
Because of the decisions that the company is making regarding the streaming platform, such as removing original movies and series that are not doing well, canceling the Batgirl movie, stopping creating new content, among other things. pic.twitter.com/IwmRTR0Xmh

Also, this Wednesday, August 3, Warner Bros. announced that they will not screen “Batgirl” in theaters or on HBO Maxa production that cost more than 90 million dollars, despite the fact that the film was completely shot.
Variety also reported that a tax incentive was the driving force behind the decision to ‘kill’ Batgirl. According to the report: “Warner Bros. will almost certainly take a tax cut, considered internally as the most financially sound way to recover costs. You could justify it by attributing it to a post-merger change in strategy. However, doing so would mean that Warner Bros can’t monetize any of the movies: no debut on HBO Max, no sale to another studio.”
Until Wednesday night, HBO did not issue a statement about the withdrawal of the films on its platform, despite the fact that it became a trend on social networks by relating it to a possible break with Warner Bros and even the disappearance of the streaming service.
The memes emerged, here are some of them:
I’m not ready to leave HBO max 🙁
Today was a bad day in my personal life and this news made it worse
There is a lot that I still do not see on HBO and I do not want it to end so soon
I guess I’ll make the most of what’s left of today and hope nothing happens tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/k2KcPYlAmS
