Rafael Caro Quinterofounder of Guadalajara Cartelobtained definitive suspension against his extradition to the United States.
The news was made known by the agreement of the First District Court in Amparo Matters and Federal Trials in the Mexico state.
The United States claims Quintero for the murder of the DEA agent Enrique Camarena and for crimes related to drug trafficking.
On July 15, Caro Quintero was arrested in an operation by the Marine and the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) in Sinaloaafter staying fugitive since 2013.

After his capture, the Justice Department of the United States announced that it would seek his extradition to be carried out “immediately”.
Caro Quintero was the most wanted fugitive by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), who offered up to 20 million dollars for information that would help capture him.
The now detainee had been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the kidnapping and murder of Agent Camarena in 1985.
In 2013, he was released from prison after 28 years when a federal court in Jalisco. He was granted an injunction arguing that the victim did not hold any diplomatic position, for which the capo’s immediate release was ordered; a year and a half later his re-arrest was ordered.
Quintero is accused of founding the Guadalajara Cartel together with his friend Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo Y Ernesto Fonseca Carrilloaliases Gift Net.
