PRD will not support initiative – El Financiero

The coordinator of the PRD in the Chamber of Deputies, Luis Espinoza Cházaro, clarified that his party will not support the initiative of Alejandro Moreno, president of the PRI, to arm Mexican families to defend their homes and businesses from organized crime.

“I don’t think that arming people is the solution. The countries that have the most weapons have higher number of homicidesbecause weapons are not necessarily used to confront crime,” he explained.

The legislator assured that Moreno did not consult the proposal with the ‘Va por México’ alliance, so the Sol Azteca party “respects the position of the PRI”, but “does not share the fact that arming people is the solution” .

“I believe that the Mexican State is responsible for guaranteeing security,” he stressed.

However, he assured that the strategy of ‘Hugs and not Bullets’ does not work, so he called on President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to rectify his plan.

The country is awash in bloodHe does not want to see that the strategy does not work, that he must change it and change the tools to fight organized crime,” he added.

Espinoza stated that he had analyzed the initiative with Jesus Zambranopresident of the PRD, and “just as we have agreed constitutionally on the moratorium, we do not agree with the approach of arming Mexican families.”

The PRD coordinator ruled out that this position will affect the opposition alliance because, he stressed, ‘Alito’ Moreno said that the initiative was his

“I am left with what we have discussed, what we have agreed and what we have all fulfilled, which is what is discussed, the issue of the moratorium, and in that the PRI has complied, the PAN has complied and the PRD has complied. and will continue to comply,” he said.
