One of the greatest myths of sport are the relations sexual, not having them before any competition, because it is said that they decrease performance and cause those who had them not to give one hundred percent of themselves. But that is not very clear and that is why here we clarify what happens if you do exercise after sex.
According to a study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine and conducted by the California State University on 12 healthy men between the ages of 22 and 28 with active sexual lives and regular athletes, after doing a familiarization session they were sent home and assigned some of them to practice relations sexual and others who abstained.
The next day, performance in leg exercises was studied, with somewhat surprising results, and even more so if the people are normal, like anyone else.
More by myth than reality, high-level athletes follow restrictions of at least 12 hours without sexual relations before any exercise or competition, although more and more researchers are seeking to banish this custom.
Can I have sex before exercising?
The answer is undoubtedly yes, because despite everything that is said, there is no scientific evidence that sex reduces physical performance when it comes to doing exercise and more when the rest time necessary for recovery has already been given.
The study conducted by California State University states that no difference was observed among the 12 men who had maintained relations sexual and those that are not.
Similarly, Tommy Boone, author of ‘Sex Before Athletic Competitions: Myth or Reality’, states that he was not able to find noticeable differences between those athletes who had had sex in the twelve hours prior to a test involving endurance and the ones that don’t
“Science rules out the idea that sex the night before a sports competition has a depleting effect on the athlete or that it could weaken the athlete’s muscles. In fact, many benefits have been highlighted in this regard”, say researchers from the Islamic Azad, Kharazmi and Zanjan Universities.
